Terms & Conditions

These terms govern use of DeKalb County Released Inmates. By accessing or using the site, you agree to them. If you do not accept every term, do not use the site or its search tools.

This privately owned site is not affiliated with DeKalb County, a sheriff, jail, court, or corrections department. Neither the site nor its advertising partners provides credit, employment, insurance, tenant-screening, or other FCRA-covered services. The site is not a private investigation firm or consumer reporting agency; it helps visitors locate DeKalb County and Illinois custody-record resources.

Nature of the Website

This is a private reference site with no authority over a government office. It stores no official jail, release, court, or corrections record and cannot confirm custody, release anyone, file a request for a visitor, or change an agency file. Pages organize public resource links and may connect visitors with third-party research tools.

Acceptable Use Rules

Use the site only for lawful, purpose-neutral activity. You agree not to:

  • violate a law or another person's rights;
  • stalk, harass, threaten, impersonate, or harm anyone;
  • base hiring, housing, lending, insurance, or similar eligibility decisions on site content;
  • attempt access to accounts, data, or systems without permission;
  • run bots, scrapers, or automated extraction tools; or
  • damage, overload, interfere with, or deny the site to others.

No Consumer Reports

DeKalb County Released Inmates is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. It supplies no background check, credit report, or consumer report, and its advertising or search partners do not offer screening through this site. You agree not to use information for:

  • employment, hiring, discipline, or termination;
  • housing or tenant screening;
  • creditworthiness, lending, or insurance pricing;
  • licenses, permits, benefits, or government-program eligibility; or
  • any other decision regulated by the FCRA.

Links and Outside Services

Links may lead to DeKalb release records, Sheriff and corrections pages, court portals, legal resources, federal locators, and outside search services. We do not endorse or control those destinations and are not responsible for their content, uptime, results, fees, or data practices. Read each provider's own terms before proceeding.

Service Provided As Is

The site and its content are supplied “as is” and “as available.” To the extent permitted by law, we disclaim all express and implied warranties. We do not promise accuracy, completeness, currency, uninterrupted access, freedom from errors or security weaknesses, or complete partner search results. Custody and public records change often, and nothing here is an official statement from the DeKalb Sheriff, a court, IDOC, or another government agency.

Limits of Liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, the site, its owners, contributors, and service providers are not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from access, use, inability to use, reliance on content, or interaction with an outside service.

Your Duty to Indemnify

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the site, its owners, contributors, and providers from claims, losses, liabilities, costs, and reasonable legal fees caused by your use, misuse, violation of these terms, or infringement of another person's rights.

Site Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise stated, original text, graphics, logos, design elements, and code belong to DeKalb County Released Inmates or its content partners. Government records remain subject to their own rules. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, sell, or create derivative works from protected site material without written permission.

Changes to These Terms

We may revise these terms at any time. A revised version takes effect when posted. Continued use after publication means you accept the new terms.

Access May Be Ended

We may restrict, suspend, or terminate access at any time, for any reason, without advance notice. Obligations that logically survive termination remain in effect.

Illinois Governing Law

Illinois law governs these terms, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute must be brought in a court with proper jurisdiction in Illinois. References to public records follow the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140, while covered criminal-record publisher practices are addressed by the Illinois Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act, including 815 ILCS 505/2QQQ.

Severability

If a court finds one provision invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in force. The affected provision will be narrowed only as much as needed to make it enforceable where law permits.
